North Sydney Bears Women’s Open Age Division

With the generous support of Norths Collective, 2018 also saw the introduction of the first North Sydney women’s team. This new team brought energy and excitement to North Sydney oval competing in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership competition and were outstanding ambassadors for the first ever girls’ team, putting their hand up to be counted.

This a truly exciting time for The North Sydney Bears, as we see a cultural shift and movement towards the support of women in football across Australia. Due to this there is now a new focus and opportunity for women to compete in rugby league. Seeing women playing and the intensity of the game, is inspiring a whole new generation of girls to get involved and have fun with it. Women and girls Rugby League are now the fastest growing area of the NRL. Women want to play, not only at a national level but also at a community level, being part of something special and joining the other 465,000 girls and women now playing in AFL across the country – making history and supporting women in sport everywhere.
