Kids in Need has an ongoing commitment to provide specialised equipment and/or treatment for children from the Tweed area who are diagnosed with a disability or who are chronically ill. This is done through raising funds for these local children who are seriously ill or have a disability. Requests are made to KIN by medical practitioners and specialised professionals for such items as rehabilitation equipment or to support families with ongoing medical costs. Although the advent of the NDIS was meant to change outcomes for families with children with a disability, this has not happened in many cases.
The desired outcomes of this project are the timely provision of supports to children with a disability so that they can take their rightful place in our community and can reach their full potential. As a result, they will be treated with dignity using a person-centred , strengths based approach to empower them and their families.
